I love Shea Moisture Products! I just recently purchased a bunch of products from them that are geared to treat my hair specifically and I would love to share it with everyone cause I definitely know how hard it is to find good products and drop money blindly! I hope this helps!

Let me start with the Shampoo, since this is the first step anyway. This product is very thick, lathering and moisturizing. I have never found a shampoo that has actually moisturized my curls! It smells so good after wards leaving a smooth finish. It has a beautiful pearly look and soft feel to the touch.

*Key Ingredients:

Sea kelp - Trace minerals detoxify hair follicles of impurities and residue.
Argan Oil - Restores shine and rebuilds hair elasticity.
Shea Butter - Deeply moisturizes and repairs damages to hair and scalp.

The Restorative conditioner is a perfect balance after the shampoo. You never want that over moisturized feeling cause most likely you will have thick unmovable hair in a few days from the buildup!
Its light but still very moisturizing. I like to concentrate it on my ends.

*Key ingredients are the same as the shampoo :)

I love love love the Curl & Style Conditioning Milk! It smells like coconut which is a huge plus for me and it makes my hair feel textured, moisturized and softer then ever. I have damaged hair at the moment and this is reviving it with every use. My curls are not frizzy at all. In fact they are bouncy again with lots of shine! product. People have told me that my hair looks healthy!

Key Ingredients:

Coconut Oil - Hydrates and protects hair from heat and chemical damage.
Silk Protein - Reduces breakage, strengthens hair, adds smoothness and silkiness.
Neem Oil - An age old ayurvedic oil that strengthens hair and provides brilliant shine.

I'm a fan of the texture this leaves my hair. I have left this product on my head for a whole day outside. It Isn't a thick cream on your hair. Its a coat of product which is good cause you wont use it up as fast. The smell is mild and the texture is silky and creamy with a mild scent. I have not used it long enough to tell you the long term effects, but I will update in a few months!

Hi everyone! Feels good to be back! I wanted to go over my new 2012 goals, standards and overall way of thinking. I feel by start this blog after such a long gap, everyone should know that nothing is the same. I have thoughts on everything. I'm stronger, faster and wiser.
I am very excited first off because I have spent so much time trying to build my life to what it is now, which is, stable. I have a new home and a new job that I love very much. I am so blessed, I cant even tell you in words how grateful I am to be healthy enough to keep going and to do better for myself, everyday. Waking up in the morning feels so good when everything around you is yourself because you set out for it.

When 2012 came, I honestly had no goals or resolutions in mind. I had to think about it. And when I did, everything was to clear. Everything from now on will have a beginning and an end. If I choose to try something for results and set my mind to do it, I wont commit until I'm 100% sure that I will finish to SEE A RESULT. At this age in my life I am determined to see more results and never let myself down. If I put my mind to it, I can achieve it. The habits and patterns I had along time ago were a big waste of time. No one has time to spare. Life is way too short to take things slow. Everyday is an opportunity to turn it around. If your not happy, what else can you do to change that feeling then to just change it. Only you have the power to do so. Continue reaching your goals with every step. I have and I've seen results over time. Now I have a new head on my shoulders that could have only come to me with time. Now that I have a lot more things in perspective, the fine tuning in my head has taking control. I like this feeling because its allowing me to see more. See the things I never could before, not knowing who the hell I was.

As long as anyone has known me, I mean before makeup ever existed in my world, there was exfoliating. I love exfoliating my skin so much because i understood from a young age, just how important it was.

Understanding the skin could be complicating, so ill shorten it for you...

Exfoliate for...

A healthy glow!

A smooth feeling!

A fresh start!

Basically your skin goes through a "turning" processed about once every week. What that means is, as your dead skin cells begin to shed (Yes shed, gross!!) The new alive skin wants to shine through. But can that happen when the old dead skin cells are still laying there? Nope!

Ill tell ya', your soap is not the right man for this job. YOU NEED A SCRUB!

There are countless scrubs you can buy. Some that work, some that don't. Actually, the cheaper once have ingredients in them that you don't want near your skin because it will just dry you out due to harsh ingredients that should not be on skin in general. ME, I like to make my own to be as safe as possible. You know, customize it to my liking.

Well...Here's how i do it:

~I use a Sea salt base

~Raw virgin Coconut oil to moisturize my skin while the salt is cleaning and buffing

~ Essential oils for there individual purposes like smells and what they can help according to my skins needs

~Beeswax or Shea butter for a thicker and extra moisturizing feeling afterwards (For dryer skin types)

~Olive oil! I love to throw this in just for its amazing cleansing and antiseptic purposes.

***The reason why i use so many oils is because SALT can be very drying to the skin.

I believe that if you do something that is not the best for you, but you refuse to stop for your own pleasures, habits or whatever reasons, at least counteract it! Do your best to maintain health in all aspects of life like Smoking, drinking, eating, etc... There are small steps that everyone can take, for instance, if you are a heavy smoker: try to work out; be active; drink tea's that help the lungs, take supplements that bring oxygen to your blood!

REVIVE YOURSELF FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!!! I think its mentally healthy to at least try!

Not everyone has the same skin type so don't use what everyone else is using. Try things that work best for you. Even if you have to make it yourself! Its easy! Most of everything you need is already in your kitchen.

Tips:

Beeswax and butters are heavier for dryer skin types

light oils like jojoba or coconut are great for normal skin types.

If you use a scrub that leaves you dry, use a moisturizer according to your skin. If something doesn't work, try something else!

Don't be afraid to mix it all up!

Amazing way to keep your curls from drying out!

Ive learned alot from when I last made a curly hair tutorial so i hope this is a better ways to get you on a healthy path to beautiful curls too!

I wash my hair about once a week now because a curly hair specialist told me my hair was drying out because i washed it too much. I listened and so far it looks like I'v made some good progress by staying consistant. So, i would like to share some of the new things i picked up about curly hair care and some of the new and natural products I found...

Theraneem Conditions

I Love this product so much. I have used it for such a short time and have seen great progression in my hair and skin.

The conditioner i have, makes my hair smell great, leaves it light weight and smelling like coconuts! After the shower i like to run a little bit of conditioner through my hair to give it some extra body. You should try it too! I swear by it!

Virgin Coconut Oil

I have been using Virgin Coconut oil for my hair, skin and health for a few years now. Sometimes i cant always afford to buy it, but i try my best to be consistent for best results.

~I run it through the ends of my hair after a nice steamy shower

~I ingest about two teaspoons of coconut oil (once in morning and once in the night before bed for positive fat. Its very important that people know most of the change starts from within, from the things we eat consistently.

~ I mix some in with my Shea butter for a smoother more lotion feel for twice the benefits of moisture and nutrients.

~ I really love to cook with it! Coconut oil is one of the best and safest oils to use in cooking. Also a great ways to incorporated it into your diet (especially is you have a hard time eating in a raw oil form).

***Best way to find a great Coconut oil:

Look for labels that say things like, RAW, UNREFINED, ORGANIC and COLD PRESSED for the most clean and close to natural and pure as possible!

Most of what i know is based off of experience with my own hair. I try alot of natural ways of see what works for my big curly hair that works for me.

These two things together really give my hair a light weight clean feeling for most of the week before i wash it!

Today was my day off from work so i planned a girls day out with my home girl PINKY. It was a fab time getting our nails done and going to a photoshoot that Tifa Reed Hilton was in afterwards, photographed by Jason Tamvakis. It was so relaxing being on the set of a photoshoot and having the opportunity to relax and not do Makeup for the shoot. It was a time of just being around what we love the most which is People, beauty and photography.

Elite Model Shelbie Kramer!

I would like to stress how relaxing it is to do a test shoot on a weekend (especially when its raining). Wake up really early, get comfortable for the long day of creating with other very talented people who are just as passionate about the experience as you are.

7:30am charp, west midtown Manhattan. My kit is super ready to go with a checklist on top (so that i wont forget anything like my entire makeup kit! yeah, iv done that before lol). Had a fabulous time with my buddy Joseph who introduced me to these two lovely ladies!

I was really eager to meet Svetlana because she was my first female photographer! I was very pleased to meet such a doll!

Working on Shelbie was like working on an unprimed canvas. She was so tall and beautiful! had to be like 4 feet taller than me. Ok, maybe I'm over doing it but she had a wonderful soft presence. Working with a team like this is my ideal everyday life. Fun times <3 Lets do it again and again...

This is the first time I met Paul and we pretty much hit it off quickly prier to meeting (Facebook & Txting). One of the most awesome things about Paul besides his work would be his hamburger making skills. I was special enough to experience one while working on Pinky :)

Once he told me he wanted to incorporate Polynesian tribal designs mixed with some jets colors i immediately came up with a design that would make sense in balance and also staying true to the tribal designs.

First things first. I take my skin very very seriously. I mean whats a painting on a bad canvas? Terrible! So i have fun with my favorite smells and textures.

First thing in the morning and right before Bed!

1) I wet my face with warm water
2) Wash my face with Dr. Bronner's magic soap in Rose or Peppermint!

3) I Pat my face with a towel ( do not rub or scrub)

4) Take a small amount of Burt"s Bees Carrot day cream and massage all over the face and neck

5)Then apply makeup or go through the day with beautiful healthy glowing skin!

**** Giving your face a mini vacation from makeup is a must! Most woman wear makeup everyday and don't give their skin a chance to breath the fresh air. Keep in mind your makeup looks best when your skin is radiant!

**** NEVER NEVER EVER EVER go to sleep with your makeup on. Your skin reconstructs itself during your sleep and makeup would just clog your pores and create space for Bacteria yay!!! lol Nuts huh? Wash your face every morning and night and drink lots of water. You shall see the results for yourself after a week!

Today i decided was the day i finally get all my makeup info (Portfolio, Business card, resume, call sheets etc.) together to get my 40% off makeup artist card at Makeup Forever. 12th street and 5th ave. What a whole in the wall!

I also applied for a position :-D. Their were none open at the moment but i still left all my info. Which reminds me, UPDATE PORTFOLIO!!!

I desperatly needed a change of foundation. My favorites right now are Mac's "Select spf 15 (Natural finish), Makeup forever's "HD" and what I'm trying out now is Makeup forever "Matt Velvet". So far so good. It leaves a pretty finish and blended so well into my skin i was amazing.

To go along with that i bought Makeup Forever's "HD Setting Powder". This stuff has my face feeling smooth and sleek!

So i was definitely a happy customer when my total didn't go over &100 for my two item's (like my normal personal makeup bare necessities are).

Now that i have the card i will surely make them my primary makeup kit suppliers. Makeup Disinory just isn't cutting it anymore.

A very cool Band called "Barefoot walking" called me to do the Makeup/Styling for their first music video "Mermaid day Parade". Pretty Fresh. I got to spend the day on the beach doing what i love, working with some cool and funny personalities.

I had just arrived to meet everyone on the board walk at 8am on a saturday. All i kept thinking is how packed i knew the beach was going to get and it did. funny thing someone named Surgeo (lifeguard) came up to me and said we had gone to Jr. High school together!

Here i did a look showing you what these colors got to give. I'm so impressed with the quality of these paints. The control you have is unbelievable. The color variety I have now gives me freedom to make my own shades of colors for lips and eyes. AND SIMPLY GO CRAZY WITH MY MAKEUP... Skies the limit!

I just got these Krylon Aquacolor Pallets! I was handed down these never been used testers from my job and I'm super happy that i got them for free!

The entire look's design and creation was all me. I don't normally do hair on other people but i always do my own. Today i got inspired by the colors of my pallets and the ideas that were racing through my head. Those times i have nothing else i could concentrate on.

For the first time i really needed to apply an "impressive lip" to go with the flashy big eyes, so, i got the idea to use multiple colors. With the view point from my vision of it earlier today.

Around 2006 a photographer Yoni Golberg answered my craigslist add
MAKEUP AND STYLIST NEEDS PHOTOGRAPHER TO JOIN OUR TEAM.
We banged out some serious work but nothing can top this years later...
I call this "True Beast" for two reasons.
1. Hair (Joseph DiMaggio) And Stylist (John Wellington-Simon) kept calling me a BEAST!

Its nice to know that I have all the resorces i need to be a successfull makeup artist right here in New York City. Its also a perk that i work in a place that allows me to talk to people from all over the world that i can network with such as actors, models, directors, photographers, makeup artist of all styles etc. etc. I consider myself lucky!

I have to say, being on set with kind people made my life a whole lot easier. Films of all kinds can be hard. Working 12-16 hour days at times and being around positive energy makes the experience a great one.

I'm drawn to the beauty of the shapes and the purposes of bottles. My idea of recycling bottles is giving it a new purpose to live in my home. Over the years I have accumulated a small collection of pretty ones. Mostly wine bottles from good times. Continuing to flow with the bursts of creativity that flows in my mind for growth and success i have decided to find a place in my city were they allow me to sell my goods.

Honestly...

I plan to do big things with my career. For a long time i didn't think to follow other makeup artists who have made it and became big stamps in the makeup industry. I know of a bunch off the top, but no one i really admired this much.

Everyday i take a moment of my time to read a piece of her book "Makeup Manual". Her words did not only give me good professional advice but the confidence to believe in myself and truly believe that i can do this. she made it clear to me that my dream and big goal is worth the ride. i can help woman find the easy and fun way to apply their own makeup to make them feel good about themselves using my products. One of my short term goals is to get a position working for Bobbi brown at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York or Bloomingdale's. Iv never wanted anything this much and I'm working very hard to be consistent. i want it so much, i realized i can't stop.

Soap!
Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap is Magic!

You won't ever get a better clean than this. The mixture of oils and vitamin E gives you the best experience in the shower or bath (as i do it) possible!
I personally like the Peppermint for the summer and Almond oil for the winter because the peppermint is so strong when you step foot out the shower you will freeze! which is very refreshing for the hot summer. The Almond in the winter is awesome because of the moisture. Almond will keep you good for that cracking dried out winter feeling. You could use it for just about anything like Washing your clothes, hair, mouth, skin, house etc.

I like to switch it up too...
Nubian Heritage is an awesome brand! With it's gorgeous smell and creamy lather, this soap won my heart over a while ago.

100% Pure African Shea butter! Its everything you need.

*** Hint Hint: if your worried about the Shea butter not completely comming off don't worry! the Dr. Bronners soap will take care of that.

In the summer i like to use oils for a lighter feeling.

Curly Hair!
Basically i don't do much with my hair. I Believe besides washing our hair the natural oils from your scalp will take care of it.

Wash every 3 days (dime size amount) w/ Deva Curl low poo

Brush, flip, then comb.

Emulsify an extremely small amount of Indian hemp in hands then crunch into wet hair turned upside down.

*Night before washing my hair: Rosemary oil on fingertips rubbed into the scalp helps stimulate & grow healthy hair!
